Now Offering Airborne Mycotoxin Testing
This is a common question we get from most of our customers. They are seeing what appears to be mold growing in their homes, they understand the possible issues associated with it, so why do they need to have an inspection or testing? Why can't we just come in to remove the mold so they can get on with their lives.
We understand! However let us explain why a Mold Inspection, or Mold Assessment is the FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT part of addressing mold issues within your home or office.
FIRST, a Mold Inspection PROTECTS YOU, the consumer from those unscrupulous contractors and companies that sadly take advantage of the consumer time and again. The State of Florida realized that consumers were being taken advantage of and decided in 2011 to become 1 of 5 states that require the Mold Industry to be a licensed industry and follow the statutes and standards set forth. Florida Statute 468.84 states: "The legislature finds it necessary in the interest of the public safety and welfare, to prevent damage to real and personal property to avert economic injury to the resident of this state, and to regulate persons and companies that hold themselves out to the public as qualified to perform mold-related services."
SECOND, there are still some companies who offer to provide the initial inspection, the remediation, and the clearance testing. Not only does this present a conflict of interest, it is also unethical, and more importantly it is against the law. To offer to preform all services or a couple of services for you is in direct violation of Florida Statute 468.8419 which states: "A person may not: Perform or offer to perform any mold remediation to a structure on which the mold assessor or the mold assessor’s company provided a mold assessment within the last 12 months."
THIRDLY, we give you honest, unbiased, knowledge based service. We are not trying to land a large payday, or "pad" a remediation job for a larger insurance claim. We work for you. We have your best interest at heart. We know that by doing our job well, in the end we are empowering you to make an educated decision on what needs to be your next step.
By having the results of the mold inspection you are able to see exactly what needs to be done to return you home or office to a "healthy home standard". By using the visual observations, testing results, and remediation protocols and guidelines laid forth within an inspection report you can decided if it is something you can handle on your own, or if you want to call a licensed remediation company. A thorough inspection report can even help you in making a decision to make an insurance claim, or help your insurance adjuster determine if there is coverage for the damages based on the report. Having a comprehensive mold assessment report, you can hold the remediation company accountable, making sure that all the protocols and guidelines set forth are adhered to so that your home can be returned to the happy healthy living space it once was.
And FINALLY the FOURTH reason is simple. By having mold testing done along with your mold inspection it provides a baseline to verify a job well done. The industry calls it Post Remediation Verification (PRV). This is where the initial mold inspector returns to the home or office after the remediation is completed, but prior to any repairs being made, and does a visual assessment to make sure all guidelines and protocols were followed, and perform additional testing to ensure that the home has been returned to the healthy home standard and no residual mold issues remain.
So to sum up the original question of Why, it's simple, It's for YOUR PEACE OF MIND.
